She stepped onto the pavement from the muddy track and adjusted her steps to accommodate the different traction. The grey light was changed to a slight orange as she stepped through the beams of a street lamp, not yet reached by the weak morning rays.
She slid through the narrow gap between two gate posts and followed the uneven pavement between two brick walls towering above her.
